EXPERIENCING DIVINITY AND SERENITY BY 'DARING TO BE DIFFERENT'

Come Makar Sankranti and people, the nation over, get busy taking holy dips and flying kites...

Without doing any of this, I am soaring high like a kite,(of course, not forgetting for a moment that my string is in control of someone supremely divine and gracious.)

The reason for my happiness being that I indulged in three simple activities that have warmed my heart and made me feel really happy and blessed indeed!

The reason I chose to blog about this, is not to make a 'hue and cry'about it but, rather spread the awareness that life can become really worthwhile through 'simple acts of sharing and caring'.

On Friday morning,15th of January, I experienced the sheer joy of picking up some 'bare necessities' for  the Borivali Orphanage girls. My friends Sonal Dhar and Seema Sharma contributed equally to help me pick up a decent amount of stuff to donate, God bless both of them! My friend, Neepa Soneta ferried me to and fro to the place, in her car. The fact that her car was hit by an auto riksha also did not dampen her spirits, pray that she is rewarded with a new car soon!

ONE NATION, DIVERSE FESTIVALS TO CELEBRATE,

THE JOY OF SERVING TIL LADOOS TO THE ORPHANAGE GIRLS!

The same evening, we decided to spread more joy by distributing til ladoos to the watchmen of our building, who in return, promised to light a bonfire for us.

So, Shubha Sagar along with Neepa Soneta, Ripal Soni, Monali Shah, Suhani Shirsulla, Drisht Kakkar, Tisya Soneta, Prisha Shah and Riddhi Soni of 'Go Green Drive', joined together to celebrate Makar Sankranti in a different way and make it very special for the watchmen of our building. It was Neepa Soneta who suggested that we gift them steel glasses for tea so that they would stop drinking in the throwaway plastic ones. We presented steel glasses, cup cakes, biscuits and til ladoos to 12 watchmen of our building, Ekta Woods, Raheja Estate, Borivali-East, Mumbai.

Be part of the fun:

The girls sang and danced around the bonfire, many more kids of the building joined them in this 'merry-making'. They also distributed sweets to many other maids and passersby thus, they experienced the immense joy of

celebrating 'Makar Sankranti with a Difference'.

Followed by this joyous activity was attending the 'Sunday Ritual', conducted by the Break Through Foundation, of feeding the street side children and their families,on the 17th January near the Raghuleela Mall at Poisar, Kandivali-West, Mumbai.

This noble foundation was started by my student Meet Sangoi, who is currently studying in London. It was a pleasure to meet him recently and catch up about this charitable work, and even more so, to be a part of it.

Every Sunday the members and volunteers associated with the foundation, serve a well balanced, nutritious and hygienic meal consisting of vegetable pulao, dhokla, chutney, papad, buttermilk and banana to 50 to 60 street dwellers. It inspired me enough to promise  myself to be part of this noble work, as often as possible in the future.

CAN THERE BE A BETTER WAY OF CELEBRATING ANY FESTIVAL IN 'TRUE SPIRIT', THE SMILES SAY IT ALL!

REALLY PROUD TO BE PART OF THE TEAM THAT IS ENGAGED IN SUCH NOBLE AND EXEMPLARY WORK FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED!

So you see, there could not have been a better way of starting the year on a very auspicious and meaningful note!

These 3 activities definitely helped me and all others associated with me, to experience 'Divinity and Serenity' by 'Daring to be Different'!

This is Shubha Sagar from the  'Go Green Drive ' at Ekta Woods, Raheja Estate, Borivali-East, Mumbai, signing off for now...stay tuned for regular updates on more exciting and inspiring news in the future!
